Indeed FutureWorks
FIRST
Sustainability was seamlessly integrated into every aspect of the event, from sourcing materials to transportation and waste reduction. FIRST leveraged TRACE, a leading carbon measurement platform, to track emissions across venue energy use, waste management, materials sourcing, and travel. This resulted in 100% data completion (+23% YoY) and 95% accuracy (+45% YoY)--enabling data-driven decision-making and setting benchmarks for future events. Key targets included tracking 100% of venue energy use, 50% of event waste, all transportation emissions, and 100% of Indeed staff travel, with over 50% of supplier travel recorded. Sustainable sourcing was prioritized, with 75% of scenic elements made from recyclable or rented materials, and all plants and florals either rented or donated.
Despite challenges such as limited low-carbon transport infrastructure and balancing sustainability with regional expectations, Indeed FutureWorks achieved record-breaking success. In-person attendance exceeded goals by 122%, virtual attendance by 162%, and engagement hit new highs with 2,523 attendees tuning into the keynote session. FIRST’s commitment to sustainable event innovation not only enhanced the attendee experience but also reinforced Indeed’s leadership in HR and environmental responsibility. Indeed FutureWorks 2024 proved that large-scale events can be both impactful and sustainable–setting a precedent for the industry’s future.
