The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) was developed to provide a world-class conference venue in the heart of Dublin. Since opening, The CCD has hosted over 2,300 events, welcomed over 1.1m national and international conference delegates and many visitors. At The CCD, sustainability is woven into the fabric of our operations, driving innovation and setting the standard for an environmentally conscious venue. With a deep commitment to combating climate change, we have developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy that focuses on decarbonisation, community involvement, and sustainable hospitality. In 2024, we achieved a groundbreaking milestone with zero waste to landfill and a 100% recycling rate, thanks to our innovative waste management practices, including AI-powered food waste analysis and custom-built recycling stations. These efforts are part of our broader decarbonisation strategy, which has seen a remarkable 78% reduction in CO2 emissions from 2019 to 2023 through energy optimisation and the adoption of 100% renewable electricity. Sustainability is also central to our food and beverage offerings, where we prioritize locally sourced, seasonal, and plant-based options, and continue to lead the industry by eliminating single-use plastics. Our sustainability journey extends beyond The CCD, as we actively collaborate with clients, industry peers, and local initiatives to raise the standard for green events, being a green venue, and share best practices. Our third-party accreditations, including ISO 14001, ISO 20121, and ISO 9001, further validate our commitment to environmental stewardship and operational excellence. The CCD is dedicated to continuous improvement, exploring cutting-edge technologies like air-to-heat pumps and biodigesters to reduce our environmental impact.
