Xaxis People & Planet

Pure Communications Group

The conference, executed by Pure Communications Group, stands as a leading example of sustainable event innovation. Hosting 180 attendees at the sustainably redeveloped BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, the half-day event showcased how media investment can drive both environmental and social progress.

Focusing on “People” and “Planet,” the agenda addressed AI bias, diversity in planning, net-zero strategies, and circular economy solutions for the media industry. Sustainability and inclusion were central to every detail—from plant-based menus featuring locally sourced ingredients to zero-waste design with immersive digital environments, rented plants, and reusable furniture.

Innovative activations replaced traditional swag, with attendees planting over 200 trees via a digital Treedom wall, transforming on-site engagement into tangible real-world impact. The event exceeded attendance and diversity goals, featuring 70% female speakers, and gained significant traction on social media.

The event’s success inspired the client’s parent company to commit to hosting more sustainability-focused initiatives, aligning with their broader goal of decarbonising their supply chain by 2030. In response to this experience, Pure also adopted new sustainability measures, setting a higher standard for conscious event practices. These included implementing a new company sustainability policy, joining Isla and Trace, and partnering with initiatives like Event Cycle to upcycle event materials.

Overall, Pure ensured that Xaxis People & Planet not only achieved but exceeded its goal of sparking meaningful conversations about environmental and social progress, extending its impact well beyond the event itself and inspiring lasting positive change.
